What we collect

When you use our forms, we collect what you give us: your name, email, phone (if you provide it), which best describes you (homeowner, landlord, property manager, or business), the services you're asking about, and anything you add in the notes. If you apply as an operator, also your trades, your experience level and any trade tickets, whether you have your own tools and a vehicle, and what work you want and why. When you opt in to updates, we record your consent. Our systems also log basic technical details — the time, your IP address, your browser, and the page you came from — as part of a security and consent audit trail.

Why we collect it

To respond to your inquiry or application, and — only if you opt in — to send occasional updates and home-maintenance tips. We don't collect anything beyond what those purposes need.

Your consent

Updates are opt-in: the box is unchecked by default, and we only email updates if you check it. You can withdraw consent anytime — use the preferences link in any email we send, or email us.

Who we share it with

We don't sell your information. To run the site we rely on a few providers who process data on our behalf: Supabase (our database, hosted in Canada), Resend (email delivery, U.S.-based), and Vercel (website hosting, U.S.-based, which may cache pages globally through its network). Where a provider is U.S.-based, your information may be processed under U.S. jurisdiction. These providers handle data on our behalf under their data-processing terms, and we share your information only with them, only for the purposes above.

How we protect it

Your information is encrypted in transit and at rest, access is limited, and consent events are written to an append-only audit log that can't be quietly altered.

How long we keep it

We keep your information only as long as we need it for the purposes above. Two things we're required to keep even if you ask us to delete everything: accounting and tax records, retained about six years as the Canada Revenue Agency requires; and consent records, kept as our compliance trail. Security and audit logs are kept about a year for incident investigation. Everything else, we delete on request.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct, or delete the information we hold about you, and withdraw consent to updates. We respond to access requests within 30 days, as PIPEDA requires. Use the preferences link in any email we send, or email kewlguy@handymanreality.com.

If you have a complaint

If you're not satisfied with how we've handled your personal information, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca) or the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta (oipc.ab.ca).

If there's a breach

If a privacy breach ever creates a real risk of significant harm, we'll notify the people affected and the appropriate commissioner, as the law requires.

Changes to this notice

If we change how we handle your information, we'll update this page and the date above.
